Monopoly Hits all of Google Maps

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

A VIRTUAL NEIGHBORHOOD NEAR YOU: Starting tomorrow, Monopoly City Streets, a limited-time online free version of the board game, will allow armchair real estate moguls to buy and sell their favorite properties, across all of Google Maps: “The Monopoly City Streets instant-play online platform brings Monopoly to life by letting competitors play with the actual streets that are special to them. including their very own neighborhood, town or city. Or, players can choose to set up their property empire in a city where they would like to own property.”

Property Taxes Going Down?

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

California’s Prop 13 is no stranger to flak, especially whenever the state finds itself out of cash, which is apparently always. The decades-old proposition capped real estate taxes at 1 percent of the property’s cash value, never to go up by more than 2 percent— but they may actually go lower next year for the first time ever. Blame/thank deflation if you must blame/thank anyone, but it’s tough times all around for everyone anyway, isn’t it? That’s never happened in the 31 years since the controversial proposition passed. So the board of equalization has never before had to consider whether rates could be lowered.

San Ramon Valley Unified Schools

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District has rehired permanent teachers who had received layoff notices.  This is good news! I hope more teachers are hired back as the children deserve all the education we can provide.  I was upset after the district sent 236 layoff notices to teachers of which more than 50% worked at the new Dougherty High School.  The San Ramon Valley Unified School district has an enrollment of 27,106 students contained in twenty-one elementary schools, eight middle schools, four high schools, and two alternative and continuation high schools.   The budget for 2009-1o is $215.50 million and this represents a budget hit of $11.7 million from the previous year.  Luckily in May, the Measure C $144 per parcel tax will bring in $6.7 million per year.  Since the district is still growing, more money revenue will continue to come from the state.   The district’s education program foundation, including individual school fundraising and donations to athletic programs bring in roughly $14 million per year.  This is incredible, let’s all do what we can to support all of our local schools.

Georgian Oaks Pending with Multiple Offers

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Dublin inventory continues to shrink as many buyers are anxious to buy something now and not wait. Our new listing in Hansen Hill went pending after receiving 3 great offers. The floor plan is a favorite to many fans of Hansen Hill, with a full bed and bath downstairs and a nice bonus room upstairs. The location was one of the best within the community as it offered amazing views out of almost every window in the home.
